My child has never played baseball before. Is this the right place for them?


The RBBA is a recreational league where players will have the opportunity to play regardless of prior skill or ability.  Our coaches work very hard to make sure that all of our players enjoy and learn during all practices and games.  We believe strongly that everyone should have the opportunity to get out and play ball!

What do I have to provide as a parent?

All parents are asked to provide solid white baseball pants for their player as well as volunteer time with the team working in the league snack bar.  Your coach will have more information on snack bar requirements.

Do I need to provide any equipment?

The only thing you need to provide is a pair of solid white baseball pants, and a baseball glove.  The RBBA will provide a uniform shirt, hat, and socks, and each team will be outfitted with batting helmets, bats, catchers gear, and similar necessary equipment.  You may provide your equipment (like a bat, batting helmet, etc) as long as it meets the league rules on equipment.  Additionally the league will not be held responsible for anything that happens to any equipment you provide.

How many games will my childs team play?

During the Spring season we expect to play between 10-14 games.  In the event of rain outs or cancellations games will be made up where ever possible to make sure you get your moneys worth.

In the Fall we expect to play between 8-10 games.  Rained out games will not be made up.

where will games be played?

Most games are played at fields in or around the City of Rockville.  Some games, especially in our softball and old baseball divisions, will be played in nearby towns like Gaithersburg, Germantown and Olney.   Please check our facilities page for a full list of fields.

When will games be played?

Each division typically plays two games a week, one on weekdays and the other during the weekend.

Each division usually plays on a specific night, these days may change due to weather and rescheduling.

Ronald Diehl Instrucitonal Division: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

Buddy Kinder Rookie Division: Once during the week (Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday) and on Sundays

Pee Wee Division: Tuesday, Thursday, and the weekend.

Midget Division: Monday, Wednesday, and the weekend.

Junior Division: Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.

Senior Division*: Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday.

*The senior division does not play weekday games until the conclusion of the high school baseball season.

When will the season end?

Our Spring season will conclude by the end of the Montgomery County Public School year.

In the Fall our season ends at the end of October or early November.

How will my child be assigned to a team? Can they play with their friends?

We assign players based on their school and grade.  You may specify certain people, or team you would like your child to play for and we will do our best to accommodate that.  However we cannot guarantee all requests will be met.

Can my child change teams?

Only under certain extenuating circumstances will we allow a player to change teams during a season.
